Palala, Bong County – The government of Liberia through the Ministry of Health has broken ground for the construction of an Oxygen Plant in Bong County.
The ceremony which took place on Monday, 5th December, 2022 in Palala, Kpaai District -#1 in Bong County.
OXYGEN is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas essential to living organisms, being taken up by animals (Humans), which convert it to carbon dioxide.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Oxygen Plant in Palala, on December 5, 2022, the Director of Emergency Medical Response / EMS-Repertory Units at the Ministry of Health, Mark Luke said citizens or patients have long since suffered from the lack of Oxygen at the various health facilities which he believes has led to the death of several Liberians across the country.
The Ministry of Health Director of Emergency Medical Response/ EMS-Repertory Units revealed that if, the Oxygen Plant is constructed and all of the Machines are procured and functional, it will serve as a major relief for Hospitals and clinics in Bong County and the Country at large.
Mr. Mark Luke further indicated that the pending Oxygen Plant will produce oxygen that will cater to citizens or health facilities in the 15 counties of Liberia.
He at the same time put the estimated cost of the Plan construction as a little over Three Hundred Thousand United States Dollars ($300, 000. 00USD).
Additionally, Mr. Mark Luke told the gathering that the Oxygen Plan construction is been funded by UNICEF and implemented by the government through the Ministry of Health in the Country.
The Director of Emergency Medical Response / EMS-Repertory Units reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to doing more in terms of improving the Country’s health sector for the overall growth of the ordinary citizens.
Moreover, Mr. Luke narrated that the construction of the Oxygen Plan will serve as a very big boast to the health care delivery system of the country.
He wants Bongese to see the project as theirs and be security during the construction of the Plant in the county.
For her part, Bong County Health Team Officer, Dr. Cynthia Blapooh extended thanks and appreciation to the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Health for the project in the county.
The Bong County Health Team Boss assured the Ministry and partners that she will monitor the process to ensure that the construction is done smoothly in the County.
Also speaking at the ceremony was the Administrative Assistant in the offices of Bong County Superintendent Esther Y. Walker, Josephus Dormyan who proxy for Superintendent Walker extolled the Ministry of Health and partners for the initiatives.
He described the project as a big boost for the people of Bong County, on grounds that they will not have to worry about oxygen at their various Hospitals and Clinics in the County.
The Bong County Superintendent Administrative Assistant called on local leaders in Kpaai District to fully monitor the project, adding they should not allow anyone to take material that is intended for the construction of the Plant.
