Foya District, Lofa County – The Lofa County Police Detachment has launched a full-scale investigation following the gruesome discovery of a young woman’s body under suspicious circumstances between Weima and Pobengue Town in the Upper Tengia Clan.
According to police sources, the 28-year-old victim, a resident of Pobengue Town, was found lying lifeless on Saturday, June 28, 2025. The body was discovered partially decomposed, barefooted, and with visible wounds to the face. She was last seen on Thursday, June 26, while on her way to Foya to purchase food items.
Upon receiving the report, the Lofa County Police Commander, ACP Tarnue N. Kerkula, immediately directed a specialized team to the crime scene to gather evidence and ascertain the facts.
Commander Kerkula, known for his proactive leadership and rapid response efforts, has remained involved in coordinating the investigation and ensuring that all necessary legal and forensic procedures are followed.
A medical practitioner at the scene officially pronounced the victim dead, and a 15-member coroner jury concluded that foul play was involved. The body was later turned over to family members for burial after police completed all required documentation.
Under Commander Kerkula’s directive, the investigation has already yielded several leads. Two individuals were initially invited for questioning. On June 30, a follow-up operation led by police in Foya resulted in the arrest of five additional suspects, all of whom are currently undergoing interrogation.
“The Lofa County Police remain committed to uncovering the truth behind this horrific act,” Commander Kerkula stated. “We will not rest until justice is served.”
The incident has raised serious concerns among residents, especially in rural communities where foot travel is common and security presence is limited. Locals are calling for increased police patrols and community engagement to prevent similar occurrences.
Authorities are encouraging the public to assist the investigation by coming forward with any information related to the case. The Lofa County Police Detachment assures residents of their full dedication to maintaining peace, order, and justice.
